It's that time, you can safely pull out the white jeans. Pair them with a pair of sneakers by day and a pair of over the knee boots by night. A chic hat completes the look no matter what the occasion.

Spring, apparently, has arrived two months early! While I'm not complaining, I would give anything for one more good snow. If not, let's go ahead and move on to the 70 degree weather. These dreary days of 50s and 60s are killing me. Anyone with me? So one of the biggest questions I've been debating is do I get the bag everyone is raving about right now or not? It's not super expensive, but
completely impractical for this cross body loyal. Fashion over function,  or wait until there's a hybrid of the two? I die for the shape of this bag, though. It's really that good.

Neon Lilac

When the latest J.Crew catalogue arrived in the mail the other day, this top caught my attention. Bell sleeves are proving to have  true staying power. They were a huge trend for fall, but they're not going anywhere. It's something to invest in now... you won't regret it later.

Blush pink petals, white jeans in the winter, a new go-to bag... I'd say this look is Valentine's Day approved.

2017 Golden Globes

While red carpets are a designer's showcase, we can pick up on what will be big
in the coming months. Last night's Golden Globes ushered in a new wave of trends. The up-dos were tighter, the necklines were plunging, the slits were thigh-high, elegant black bows made the perfect finishing touch, the colors were soft and pretty.... overall, every look was feminine and ladylike to it's core. Gone are the deep, bold hues and structure from fall. Here come the lighter days of spring.
A few of my favorites were Mandy Moore in a cape like dark number, Priyanka Chopra in this embellished gold gown (I also have major hair envy), and Octavia Spencer making a tuxedo look oh-so-elegant. I loved how both Michelle Williams and Sienna Miller's added a little black bow.
Winner Tracee Ellis Ross killed it in this heavily embellished shorter gown.
But Kristen Bell was the belle of the ball. She killed it at the Emmy's, and after last night I'm wanting to make a hair appointment asap. Hair goals. Body goals. Goals in general.

Pink Orange

The temperature is warmer, everything is in full bloom - it finally feels like spring is here to stay! It's that time of year where it can be quite warm during the day but there's still a chill in the air at night. Wearing bright punchy colors in longer lengths is the perfect choice...

Nashville Symphony Fashion Show

Counting down the hours to tonight's show with Carolina Herrera, yes, THE Carolina Herrera. The Nashville Symphony Fashion Show is one of my favorite events of the year. With a different designer each year, it's an elegant showcase of Spring's finest fashion in the most beautiful setting. Tonight should be no exception. I cannot wait to see Mrs. Herrera's collection in person.

Spring Trends to Try, pt. 4

We've covered a lot of ground in four days. You should be on your way to being the best dressed guest at the summer weddings, baby showers, and bridal showers that are on the horizon.
However, I saved my favorite two looks for spring for last!
Getting laced-up for spring is a must! It was shown by Rebecca Minkoff in this look and this look, and is currently available in nearly every store. It's an easy trend to find on effortlessly cool dresses and can be worn day or night. While I'm also loving laced-up sandals, I would pair a simple shoe with a dress of this trend and save the laced-up shoe for a more simple dress. Only one piece needs to be laced... you get the picture.
This next one is a shocker.... pretty pastels for spring? Groundbreaking.
But there's something so lovely about a pastel frock for a spring event. As shown by pretty much every designer (namely Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, and Altuzarra), it's a sure win.

Spring Trends to Try, pt. 3

Nobody did the next two trends for spring better than Caroline Herrera: pleats & sheer details. Her entire collection is complete perfection with pretty pastels, feminine details, and elegant separates all with a modest touch of sheerness. Pretty pleats were not only shown by Herrera but also by TibiVictoria Beckham, and Monique Lhiullier just to name a few.
When it comes to something a little see-through, the likes of Delpozo, Christian Dior and Temperley all showed the trend. The sheerness we speak of is strategically placed, elegant and still leaves plenty to the imagination. Again, let's use Caroline Herrera as a reference point with this look....

Spring Trends to Try, pt. 2

Two additional trends that should be added to your must-try list are
the shirtdress and the drop-waist
Aquilano Rimondi and Celine both showed a modern take on the shirtdress for spring. It's an easy day-time look (translation: perfect for a baby or bridal shower, luncheon, etc). Blogger Blair Eadie styled this look with a classic blue & white stripe version of the shirtdress. A lot of the ones we're seeing right now have this faux tie-waist detail that makes it ultra flattering. Add one to your collection pronto.
Another silhouette I've been seeing pop up amidst my spring shopping is the drop-waist. While it's not an easy look to pull off, I love how Carolina Herrera executed it in a way that is still flattering by showing the natural waist. Delpozo also bought into the trend by showing it in a more avant-garde way.

Spring Trends to Try, pt. 1

With spring upon us, it's time to talk trends.
Let's be serious, the baby shower invitations and save the dates are coming in daily. Whatever the occasion, you're going to need new spring pieces for the impending events. Over the next few days, we're going to cover the highlights, the pieces you need to add to your collection, the looks that will have you on-trend (and most likely on-budget).
One thing you will see me in (on repeat) is something off the shoulder. I think it's such a flattering look on most every body type. Designers like Sonia Rykiel and Edun showed this in bright pops of color. Buy into this one. You won't regret it.

I am also loving the idea of separates. It can be both dressy and casual depending on the pieces. Carolina Herrera showed this fanciful flirty number that would be perfect for a wedding or cocktail party while Banana Republic showed more casual options like this punchy orange look and this chambray top & skirt
See below for some of my on-trend top picks.

Golden Globes 2016

Last night's red carpet provided plenty of eye candy while giving us a glimpse of emerging trends for Spring '16. With a plethora of cut-outs, plunging v-necks, sequins and deep jewel tones, most of the head-to-toe looks still had an element of minimalism. The hair was a loose, undone up-do or a laid back, shoulder skimming beach wave. A bold red lip was the icing on the cake for many (Jennifer Lopez's lip color was perfection).
Did you see Taylor Schilling's black jumpsuit?? That was such a major win.... I loved it! And Helen Mirren, can I please be her when I'm her age? She killed it. While there were also a handful of stunning ladies in white (Alicia VikanderLaverne CoxTaraji P. Henson) it was the pops of color that won in my book.
I, of course, had to illustrate a few of my favorites while watching them stroll in...
Brie Larson looked effortless in her shimmering gold gown. Understated is key when wearing that much sparkle, and she did it perfectly.
Olivia Wilde in this plunging v-neck sequined merlot dress = perfection. I was a bit obsessed with her hair, too.
And can we talk about Jennifer Lopez? I mean, she knows how to turn heads no matter what the occasion. She pulled off a mustard yellow gown in the most perfect way. It was classy, chic, and down right perfect.
Of course, I have to sing the praises of my girl, Giuliana Rancic. Gah, how good is this coral dress with cascading sleeves and carefully placed cut-outs? I loved it and I LOVE her hair. I'm scheduling a hair appointment asap.
BUT, there was one queen of the night: Jennifer Lawrence was everything
She looked stunning in this red Dior with interesting cut-outs, and the necklace... I mean, the necklace. I have no words. She kills it every time. And I want to be her best friend, so JLaw, call me. Let's hang out.
There were only a few that left me completely underwhelmed and they were Cate, Kate & Kate. Kate Hudson's Michael Kors dress was ok, but it just made her look washed out. Kate Winslet's navy number was just boring. And what was Cate Blanchett thinking? Sorry, I hated it. Don't even get me started on Jane Fonda
Until the next award show....
