BFP shirts

Brittany Fuson, apparel, shirts, fashion illustration

We are THRILLED to finally share something we've been keeping a secret for months. Our shirts and tote bag are here! They've been a dream for years, in the works for months, and on our shelves for weeks while we've been preparing for this day. The shirts are available in three designs with a forgiving fit, slender sleeves, and the comfiest material ever. This is the shirt you will live in... trust us.

Oh, and who doesn't love a great tote? Catch all the extra things you carry around day to day in one spot (gym clothes, groceries, extra shoes, work stuff, etc). Consider this your one stop shop for Christmas.

Nothing screams fall more than a buffalo plaid cape and a hot cup of coffee. Bonus points if you add an over-the-knee boot and fringe details.

Love One Another

This past weekend, I decided to have a Sunday well spent loving people. Unfortunately, cold season is upon us. So, whether it's a friend who's under the weather or one who's simply down in the dumps, show them you care by dropping off a hot cup of soup. Let's be serious, is there anything better in the fall than butternut squash soup? Our Orca tumblers are the perfect complement to hot soup as they will keep it warm for hours on end (shop them here).

Here's your friendly reminder to spread love, be love, and allow yourself to be loved!

I used the "Blair" notecards to add a tag to the happy delivery (shop them here).

When considering what to buy for fall, we have to look at the emerging trends. While I try to stay away from investing in pieces that are too trendy, it's always fun to mix it up each season with a splash of something new. With inspiration from the 80s, the wild west, and Saville Row this season is definitely bringing the fun...
Why not mix sequins and western-inspired pieces? Or menswear plaids with a heavy teddy coat. The options are endless. Two trends to watch are the cowboy boot and heavy shimmer by way of metallics and all things sequins. Shop the look below.

The Art of Mornings

Why are mornings so hard sometimes? Your eyes literally won't stay open. Your bed is like a magnet for your body and you just can't get up. It's a daily battle, isn't it? I struggle with it as much as you do. There are times when I feel like I'm only allotted one good nights' sleep per week, so the morning after a night of tossing and turning feels impossible to overcome.

I've rounded up the things that help me wake up, stay awake, and start each day on a positive note. Whether it's a daily devotional or a splash of cold water on my face, these are the things that work for me...

Rosy

Nothing screams fall more than a touch of leopard. It adds interest to any outfit and can spice up even the most basic all black outfit. It also pairs really well with a killer red jacket. Happy Fall!

Details Details

I was recently asked to create custom notecards for an entire team of wedding and event planners. The owner wanted an illustration of the team together, and then wanted to separate the design to create personalized notecards for each girl. The result was a lovely looking group of ladies dressed in navy.

Black Tie

Welcome to our new home!! After years of blogging on another platform, we finally made the switch to have all our BFP content on one page and under the same umbrella. You can still view our old posts by clicking here, but this will be the new home for the Brittany Fuson Blog.

Now that we've made introductions, let's talk about black tie affairs. With an invitation to a black tie wedding in the month of December, what do you wear? I want to wear something fancy and festive, but yet understated. What are your go-to sources for formal dresses? I'm all ears. It's out of the ordinary that I'm planning this far in advance, but the holidays always seem to sneak up on me. This is my attempt at being prepared (for once).

Fall Cups

With a new season comes a new wardrobe. Why shouldn't that also translate to your morning coffee cup? It's hard to think about cozying up with a hot Pumpkin Spiced Latte in a summer-inspired cup. So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to Blair, Serena and Lily, our fall girls.
Not only are our 27 oz. insulated tumblers ideal for keeping your morning coffee hot for hours, they're also great for keeping a cup of soup warm until lunch or icing down your
favorite tailgate drink. Do I even need to elaborate on how they're the perfect gift? Fill one to the brim with candy corn (bonus points if you mix it with dry roasted peanuts for
the perfect fall blend), arrange freshly picked flowers for a friend in need of a pick-me-up, or grab that must-read book everyone is talking about and tie a bow around it. Consider
this your pat on the back because you just nailed the fall gifting game.

go for black or red.

Terminal A

I feel my travel bug kicking in again. I've been dreaming of
far-away destinations, airports, and packing. It could be because I've been working on new travel-inspired luggage tags, or it could just be time for another get-away!

The best way to capture those special moments is sometimes through an illustration. This is a bride with her mom and sister on her big day!  I love the color scheme with the pretty purples. Congratulations to this family!

Fall Shoes

When looking at the emerging trends, one thing is certain: leopard is making a huge splash this fall. Add a fun leopard shoe to any look and you're instantly transformed into a street style star!

As I'm counting down the days to fall, an off the shoulder
sweater seems like an appropriate pairing for your go-to
flowy skirt from summer.

Conceptualizing

When it's time to start coming up with designs for a new collection  or season, I like to call the creative process conceptualizing. For the past month or so, I have been knee-deep in "conceptual mode" brainstorming and sketching new ideas and products. When planning for the future, it's always fun  to look back to older designs that were widely popular, this one being one that fits into the best seller category. I've been analyzing it for a few days trying
to figure out what makes this particular illustration so special. Is it the monochromatic color scheme, the recognizable storefront, or something you can't quite put your finger on? I'd love to hear your feedback about this design and what you would love to see more of in the future!

The other day, I talked about how much I love illustrating the bride during her wedding ceremony. At times, though, I'm either in the  bridal party or playing another role that prevents me from illustrating on the spot. In this case, it was an intimate ceremony without wedding  programs and only close friends and family. This time, I opted for a post-
wedding illustration on her invitation. I framed the invite and presented it to her at a later date (I technically had a year to complete the job, right?).  The whole idea of illustrating on wedding invitations started when I saw a framed wedding invitation at my grandfather's house. It was in fact from
his wedding to my late grandmother, and a dear friend of theirs had  watercolored the front with the wedding chapel where the ceremony  took place. I loved the whole idea behind the gift and soon began to  copy. What started as illustrating wedding chapels has evolved into just the bride herself in my signature BFP voice on the couple's wedding invitation. I think it makes a unique keepsake, a special
way to highlight both the dress and the wedding details that brides spend so much time coordinating.

A custom illustration of a cute bride-to-be that we created invitations from. The perfect personal touch to what can be a bit repetitive bridal world.

One of my favorite things about weddings is not only the cake, but when it's a friend of mine, I will pick up the pew pen and illustrate the wedding dress on the spot. Yes, I'm not 100% paying attention during the ceremony, but I hope the bride at least appreciates the end result. This was from a few years ago, but it was a dear friend from  high school's wedding, and her dress was stunning!

There's just something about a cold scoop of ice cream that makes the hot summer days sweeter. While I usually can stay away from the local scoop shops, I've been hitting Jeni's on a weekly basis for the past few months. It's been hitting the spot!
